Bringing the family to Walt Disney World is something many families around the world dream about, plan for, and SAVE toward. Going to a Disney World is not cheap, however, there are plenty of ways to make your next trip more budget-friendly.

Whether you have been to Walt Disney World dozens of times, or you are planning your first experience, these tips are guaranteed to create a more budget-friendly experience, whether you are traveling solo, with a friend, or with a family

    Order Water Cups

Order the free water cups at Quick Service restaurants. Instead of spending money on expensive drinks for lunch, Disney has free water cups you can ask for to keep you hydrated. When beverages are at least $3 each and the special souvenir cups cost twice that, opting for water is an easy way to save cash on your Disney vacation.

    Bring your own snacks

Yes, it’s allowed, believe it or not. Pack a lunch, or at least bring snacks to eat at the park when your hungry. Not only will you not have to wait in very long lines but you will have food anytime you want it.

Disney Gift Cards to stay on Budget

One of the best budget tips is one I use quite often and the best way to save money on Disney gift cards.

    Target Redcard

One of the easiest ways to save money on Disney gift cards is via the Target RedCard. When you pay for a Target purchase with your RedCard online or in store you receive a flat 5% off. This includes Disney gift cards which you can purchase in store OR online. This makes a $100 gift card cost $95.

    Wholesale Clubs

Wholesale clubs like Costco, BJ’s, and Sam’s Club are also great options for buying Disney gift cards. Depending on the store, you can save up to 4-6% on Disney gift cards just for buying it from them.

    Disney Credit/Debit Card

Sign up for a Disney credit or debit card and using the sign-up bonus for extra rewards and exclusive Disney benefits that are offered to Disney credit cardholders. There are 2 types of cards, Disney Premier Visa Card with an annual fee of $49 and the Disney Visa Card that has no annual fee.

New Disney Premier Cardholders can earn a $300 statement credit after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. You will earn 5% on card purchases made directly at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com or ESPNPlus.com. You’ll also get 2% on card purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most other Disney locations and 1% on all other purchases.

You can redeem rewards dollars toward Disney Theme Park tickets, Resort stays, most things Disney at shopDisney.com, dining, Disney Cruise Line packages, onboard activities, souvenirs and more in the U.S.

New Disney Visa Cardholders can earn a $150 statement credit after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening with a new Disney Visa Card.

    Stay Off Disney Property

Aside from camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, staying off of Disney property gives you the cheapest accommodations by far. Get an AirBnB or stay at another hotel that is not Disney owned. If you know you absolutely want to stay on Disney property but are on a tight budget, then the Disney Value resorts are your answer. They are the cheapest of all the Disney resorts.

    Pack your own Rain Ponchos

If your going during the Florida rainy season, it may rain the days you are there. So pack a couple of rain ponchos for the trip. By purchasing them in advance, you will avoid paying $20 per poncho later.

    Skip Character Dining

These are really pricey and may not be worth it. You can still see a few characters in parades or at their designated areas. Skip it and opt for quick service dining instead.

    Visit During The Off-Peak Season

Plan your trip during the off-peak seasons at Disney when things are a little bit cheaper. This is around September before the big holidays and between January and March when school is back in session.
