Disney may be upgrading Disney World’s internet speed

A new construction permit that was filed on May 4, 2022 for “Fiber Optic Expansion Phase I” indicates that Disney may finally be upgrading Disney World’s internet speed.

Whether dining at Walt Disney World Resort or spending a magical day at the theme parks, Disney offers all guest complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access (Wi-Fi) in the majority of public spaces.

Although, with dining reservations, MagicMobile, Lightning Lane management, and the entire Genie+ system, there has been significant strain on the system. This means that slow internet services are more than a little bit frustrating for Guests.

The permit does not list an expiration date. It’s likely that “Phase I” of the project will need to be finished by May 4, 2023 as permits expire one year from the date of their initial filing.

    Stay tuned for more information.
