Disney has postponed the releases of “Mulan,” amid growing concerns over coronavirus Disney announced on Thursday.
“As you know this has been a rapidly evolving situation and I wanted to make you aware that we are postponing the releases of ‘Mulan’ out of an abundance of caution. We truly believe in the movie going experience, and we are looking at new potential 2020 release dates to be announced at a later date,” Disney said in a statement.
The live-action remake — starring Liu Yifei and directed by Niki Caro — was slated to debut in North American theaters on March 27. “Mulan’s” international release had already been delayed in some parts of the world, including China, due to the virus outbreak.
Director, Niki Caro, posted to her Instagram account Thursday:
“We are so excited to share this film with the world, but given the current ever-shifting circumstances we are all experiencing, unfortunately, we have to postpone the worldwide release for Mulan for now. Our hearts are with everyone the world over who is affected by this virus, and we hope that Mulan’s fighting spirit will continue to inspire those who are working so hard to keep us safe.”
