    Disney to introduce Ad-Supported Disney+

    Disney+ will introduce an ad-supported subscription offering in the U.S. on December 8, 2022, while also hiking the monthly price of the Disney+ tier with no ads.

    “With our new ad-supported Disney+ offering and an expanded lineup of plans across our entire streaming portfolio, we will be providing greater consumer choice at a variety of price points to cater to the diverse needs of our viewers and appeal to an even broader audience,” said Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution.

    The plan with ads will be called Disney+ Basic, and will cost $7.99 per month in the U.S. Disney+ Basic will launch with about four minutes of ads per hour. It will start with 15- and 30-second spots but will expand to a “full suite of ad products” over time.

    The ad-free version of Disney+ will bump up to $10.99 per month, a 38% increase, and will be known as Disney+ Premium.
