Radiator Springs Racers, the centerpiece of the Disney California Adventure Park’s Cars Land, will remain closed going into the Memorial Day weekend as the park investigates a ride vehicle fire that occurred last week.
Radiator Springs Racers was closed late Tuesday after witnesses said they saw smoke coming out of one of the vehicles after it crossed the finish line. The ride came to a stop, and guests were quickly evacuated.
A Disneyland spokesperson confirmed that there was an issue with one of the ride vehicles, and that the attraction will remain closed indefinitely “out of an abundance of caution.”
Accidents and mechanical problems involving Disneyland attractions also need to be investigated by the state Amusement Ride and Tramway Unit of California OSHA.
Radiator Springs Racers takes you on a thrilling journey through Radiator Springs and through the Cadillac Mountain Range. At almost six acres, the attraction is the largest by acreage at the Disneyland Resort.
