Disney has announced that Hocus Pocus 2 will haunt Disney+ on September 30, 2022.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy — all of whom starred in the 1993 original as the evil Sanderson sisters of Salem — are back in their roles for the Disney+ exclusive sequel.
Anne Fletcher is directing the movie, and the cast also includes Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. Joining them are Whitney Peak as Becca, Lilia Buckingham as Cassie, and Belissa Escobedo as Izzy, three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the three witches.
The plot picks up 29 years after Max lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the three Sanderson sisters and they are looking for revenge in present-day Salem.
An official Disney+ press release from last fall reads:
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”
