The official title for the National Treasure series on Disney+ has been revealed thanks to the release of Disney’s panels for San Diego’s Comic-Con later this month.
Disney announced the panels for Disney-owned networks, studios and streamers at Comic-Con and one of the panels revealed the title “National Treasure: Edge of History.”
Taking place on Thursday, July 21st, the panel for National Treasure: Edge of History, will have the cast and executive producers give fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Disney+ series.
While Nicolas Cage and the rest of the cast of the original National Treasure movies won’t be appearing in the show, the series stars Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, Jake Austin Walker and Lyndon Smith.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is the executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing.
The new series will focus on a new lead, 20-year-old Latina-American DREAMer Jess Morales, played by Lisette Olivera (We Need to Do Something), who sets out to uncover the mysteries of her family’s history. Jess is a mystery lover with a natural talent for solving puzzles who will uncover her own buried history, as well as the truth about her parents and her connection to a long-lost treasure. Jess and friends will have to outwit stylish businesswoman and adventurer Billie (Catherine Zeta-Jones), who plays a billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code.
