Disney announced that Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan will all be available to stream on Disney Plus in the U.S. starting July 22.
The films mark a turning point for Disney+ as they will be the first R-rated movies available on the service. These additions come after Disney+ expanded into the rated R/TV-MA territory by updating its existing Parental Controls in March of this year.
In a news release, Disney encouraged subscribers to “revisit their parental controls settings to ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”
The three films were produced by 20th Century Fox as part of that studio’s licensing deal for the X-Men characters. They fall under the Disney umbrella after the company acquired much of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019.
Deadpool tells the story of Wade Wilson, a former special ops soldier who becomes a mercenary after being subjected to a rogue experiment. Logan brings a stirring end to Hugh Jackman’s run as Wolverine.
