‘The Princess and The Frog’ Splash Mountain Replacement Will Open in 2024 at both Disneyland, Magic Kingdom

Actress Anika Noni Rose, who provided both the speaking and singing voices of Princess Tiana in Disney’s 2009 animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog, announced today on “Live with Ryan and Kelly” that Disney plans to open the Splash Mountain replacement attraction at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom in 2024.

“They are making a ride — it’ll be out in 2024,” Rose said Thursday on Live With Kelly and Ryan. “I’ve been involved in the beginning, just talking about how we want it to be, what we want it to do, but, if I were to tell you anything else, I would be sucked into the ground and you’d never see me again.”

Splash Mountain is currently located at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The attraction is based off of the film, Song of the South. According to a Disney spokesperson, “timing has not been determined” for opening the ride, though the company plans to share more details during the Essence Festival of Culture, which runs from June 30 through July 3 in New Orleans.
